Tate & Lyle PLC was informed on 8 September 2003 that ordinary shares
in Tate & Lyle PLC were acquired on 8 September 2003 by directors of
Tate & Lyle PLC as follows:
i) Mr Iain Ferguson, an Executive Director and Chief Executive of
Tate & Lyle PLC, acquired 5,000 ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle
PLC at 346.75 pence per share. Mr Ferguson now has an interest
in 5,000 ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC.
ii) Mr Stuart Strathdee, an Executive Director of Tate & Lyle PLC,
acquired 6,000 ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC at 349.50
pence per share. Mr Strathdee now has an interest in 40,920
ordinary shares in Tate & Lyle PLC.
