Tate & Lyle Board Change

Tate & Lyle PLC (the 'Company') announces that John Nicholas, Group Finance
Director, will by mutual agreement step down from the Board and leave the
Company on 30 September 2008 following a short handover period.

Pending the appointment of a new Group Finance Director, Tim Lodge, currently
Director of Investor Relations, will assume the role of Acting Group Finance
Director alongside his current duties.

Sir David Lees, Chairman of Tate & Lyle, said 'The Board would like to thank
John for all he has done for Tate & Lyle and wish him every success in the
future.'

    1. Tim Lodge has worked for Tate & Lyle for 20 years. During that time has
        held a number of senior roles at both a corporate and operational level,
        including as the Group Financial Controller, Finance Director of the
        Food & Industrial Ingredients, Europe Division and, currently, as
        Director of Investor Relations.

    2. John Nicholas joined Tate & Lyle on 1 June 2006 and became Group Finance
        Director and a member of the Board on 19 July 2006.
