Total Voting Rights

BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust plc- Voting Rights and Capital

In conformity with the Transparency Directive, we would like to notify the
market of the following:

Following the sale of 100,000 ordinary shares out of Treasury on 16 August
2011, BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust plc's issued share capital now
consists of 95,469,314 ordinary shares (excluding Treasury shares) of 0.1p each,
carrying one vote per share, and 18,351,675 subscription shares of 0.1p each,
with no voting rights (although these shares are considered "qualifying
financial instruments" in accordance with the revised DTR 5). As at
16 August 2011, BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust plc held 2,129,788
ordinary shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in BlackRock Greater Europe
Investment Trust plc is 95,469,314.

The above figure (95,469,314) may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to
notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, BlackRock Greater
Europe Investment Trust plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
