BlackRock Income and Growth Investment Trust plc (formerly British Portfolio
Trust plc (the "Company"))

Change of Name

Further to the announcement made on 23 March 2012 and following shareholder
approval at the general meeting held on 17 April 2012, the Company announces
that the Registrar of Companies has issued the Certificate of Incorporation on
Change of Name and that the name of the Company has been changed to BlackRock
Income and Growth Investment Trust plc, effective immediately.
