Standard Life - Cessation of material interest

Standard Life Investments Limited (on behalf of itself and Standard Life Group)
notified the Company on 8 September 2003 that it now held 7,399,497 shares of
Bodycote International plc representing 2.88% of Bodycote's issued share
capital and that, accordingly, it ceased to have a notifiable interest in
Bodycote.
