Appointment of Non-Executive Director

                     APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR                     

 

 

The Board of Chemring Group PLC ('Chemring' or the 'Company') is pleased to
announce the appointment of Sir Peter Norriss KCB CB AFC MA FRAeS RAF as a
non-executive director with effect from 1 May 2004.


Air Marshal Sir Peter Norriss (aged 60) was formerly the Deputy Chief of
Defence Procurement (Operations) in the Defence Procurement Agency, served on
the Air Force Board of the Defence Council and was previously a non-executive
director of the DERA Board. He is a graduate of Cambridge University and of
Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.   The majority of his
career has been spent in the Royal Air Force.  Sir Peter is currently President
of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Defence Adviser to AMS Limited, Chairman of
Microturbo Limited and Chairman of the Industrial Advisory Board to Bristol
University's Aerospace Engineering Department.             


Commenting on the appointment, Ken Scobie, Chairman of Chemring said: 'We are
very pleased that Sir Peter Norriss has agreed to join the Board as an
independent non-executive director.  With his operational background and
experience in defence procurement, he will be a valuable asset to the
Company.'         


Chemring also intends to appoint another non-executive director during the
course of 2004.


There are no further details in relation to Sir Peter Norriss which require
disclosure pursuant to paragraph 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the Listing Rules of the
Financial Services Authority.
