            COUNTERMEASURES DIVISION WINS $41 MILLION OF NEW ORDERS            

Chemring Group PLC ('Chemring') is pleased to announce that its US
countermeasures businesses, Alloy Surfaces Company, Inc. ('Alloy Surfaces'),
based in Philadelphia, and Kilgore Flares Company LLC ('Kilgore'), based in
Tennessee, have recently secured $41 million of new orders.

Kilgore has secured $22 million of contract options, the maximum available in
the second year of its four year contract with the US Department of Defence
(the 'DoD') for US Air Force M206 and MJU7A/B countermeasures. Deliveries will
be made during the latter half of this calendar year and into 2006. The
contract was worth $18.4 million in the first year, which means that
$40.4 million of orders have now been placed with Kilgore under this contract,
which could be worth up to $104 million in total if the DoD takes up further
options during the third and fourth years of the contract.

Alloy Surfaces has received $13 million of orders from the US Navy for its
special material infra-red decoys, for delivery over this calendar year and the
first half of 2006. The UK Ministry of Defence has also exercised a $6m
contract option on Alloy Surfaces for the supply of decoys to protect Tornado
and Harrier aircraft. Delivery of these decoys will be made over the second
half of the calendar year.

Dr David Price, newly-appointed Chief Executive of Chemring, commented: 'The
order book for our US countermeasures division now stands at a record $136
million, and the receipt of these new orders will underpin the performance of
this division during 2005 and provide a strong start to 2006.'
