Concurrent Technologies Plc
Product launch drives new technology initiative
Concurrent Technologies Plc ("Concurrent") a world leading specialist in the
design and manufacture of high-end embedded computer products announces the
launch of its FX 210/018 a new Switched-Fabric Board to complement its VME
product range. Concurrent will use this new product as part of a new initiative
directed towards customers in internet telephony systems, data management as
well as defence and industrial customers.
A Switched-Fabric Board allows nodes on the computer boards to inter-connect
and inter-communicate with one another at very high speeds. This multiple
interconnection is the "Fabric" in Switched-Fabric. The board operates at a
very high level of reliability in that if a connection fails, data can traverse
alternate paths.
The FX 210/018 is an embedded 1000Mbps switching platform, providing a cost
effective, low power solution for inter-board communications. Typically
consuming less than 16 Watts it supports eighteen payload boards, an
inter-switch link and up to four Ethernet ports on the front panel.
Glen Fawcett, Managing Director, commented:
"We continue to drive forward our new product plans which we view as being key
to maintaining a competitive edge. Our dynamic approach to technology positions
us as a driver in the industry."
