Product Launch
New Computer Product Augments Competitive Position
Concurrent Technologies Plc ("Concurrent" or the "Company"), a world leading
specialist in the design and manufacture of high-end embedded computer
products, is pleased to announce the launch of a new range of VME embedded
computer boards; the VP 717/08X.
This range of boards is based on the recently launched Intel® Core™ i7
processor which has been introduced for the mobile embedded market and is based
on the very latest 32nm technology. The processor introduces key features which
will be of benefit to an even wider range of applications within the defence
market than previously suited to Intel® processor technology. Consequently, VP
717/08X customers will benefit from improved performance per Watt of power, a
sophisticated memory cache as well as much faster memory performance and
improved graphics capability. Given the high performance and increased
functionality of the Coreâ„¢i7, the boards are particularly well suited for CPU
intensive processing applications within the defence, homeland security,
industrial control, and transportation market sectors. Commercial and extended
temperature versions are available today, and a compatible range of ruggedized,
conduction-cooled or air-cooled versions will be available shortly.
Glen Fawcett, Managing Director, Concurrent Technologies, commented:
"Concurrent remains committed to producing products which will be available for
many years and this is no exception. We only use processors from Intel's
embedded roadmap which guarantees availability for a minimum of 7 years; this
goes a long way to meeting the needs of our customers' requirements for long
life cycle products while simultaneously providing them with enhanced
processing capabilities.
The VP 717/08x, being an upgrade to an existing board, will appeal to both
existing customers for technology refreshes, as well as new customers who can
take advantage of the latest features of the Coreâ„¢ i7technology to standardize
more of their application on Intel®based hardware, thereby reducing their
overall cost of ownership."
