Diageo plc (the 'Company') announces that it received notification on 18
November 2005 for the purposes of Sections 198 to 208 of the Companies Act
1985, from Barclays PLC ('Barclays') that as at 16 November 2005 Barclays had,
through its legal entities, increased its interest in the Company's ordinary
shares of 28 101/108 pence ('Ordinary Shares') to 91,189,550 Ordinary Shares,
representing 3.13 per cent. of the issued share capital. The issued share
capital of the Company as at 16 November 2005 was 2,909,863,548 excluding
140,604,000 Ordinary Shares held as Treasury Shares.
