Transaction in Own Shares - amendment

The issuer advises that the following replaces the transaction in own shares
announcement released on 19 January 2007 at 08:04 under reference number
PRNUK-1901070800-E2AE.

The date of the repurchase of shares should have read 18 January 2007 and not
18 October 2007 as previously announced. All other details remain unchanged.

The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc announces that on 18 January 2007 the
Company repurchased 112,000 of its own shares for cancellation at a price of
472.75 pence per share. The total number of ordinary 25p shares now in issue is
218,275,748.
