FRANKFURT, Germany, July 10 /PRNewswire/ --
- First-half 2009 Marked by Global Economic and Financial Crisis
Fraport AG recorded a slight recovery in passenger demand at its
Frankfurt Airport (FRA) home base in June 2009. Germany's largest airport
served approximately 4.5 million passengers last month, down 5.6 percent
year-on-year. Thus passenger decline at FRA continued to slow down. The
recovery trend accelerated particularly toward the end of the month when the
summer vacation period began in several German states.
Aircraft movements dropped by 4.6 percent year-on-year to 40,074 takeoffs
and landings. Maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) at FRA fell 4.3 percent. At the
same time, FRA handled 148,211 metric tons of airfreight (down 16.5 percent)
and 6,432 metric tons of airmail (down 10.4 percent).
Traffic figures for the first half of 2009 were marked by the global
economic and financial crisis. A total of 24.2 million passengers used

percent to 39,164 metric tons. Aircraft movements were down by 5.7 percent
during the same period to 227,844 takeoffs and landings.
Among Fraport's majority-owned airports Peru's Lima Airport (LIM)

on the same period last year. Turkey's Antalya Airport (AYT) recorded 3.6

(down 12.9 percent) and Varna Airport (VAR) received 379,216 passengers (down
14.6 percent).
