Majedie Investments PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Gerry
Aherne as a non executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 May 2006.

Mr Aherne is currently:

  * Managing Partner of Javelin Capital Partners LLP
   
  * A non executive director of Henderson Global Investors plc
   
  * A non executive director of Electric and General Investment Trust plc
   
Previously:

  * Mr Aherne spent 16 years, to September 2002, with Schroder Investment
    Management, as Investment Director.
   
  * Prior to this, he spent 18 years with Equity & Law in various actuarial and
    investment management roles.
   
  * He was a founding Director of PRI Group plc from August 2002 until June
    2003, when it was acquired by BRIT.
   
There are no further details required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule
9.6.13(2)-(6).
