AEROFLOT ORDER MARKS DEBUT FOR ROLLS-ROYCE TRENT IN RUSSIA
Aeroflot has become the latest customer for the Rolls-Royce Trent engine
series. The Russian flag carrier has selected the Trent 700 to power its new
fleet of 10 leased Airbus A330-200s.
The order, including a long term TotalCare services agreement, is worth around
$600 million at list prices and marks the Trent family's debut in the Russian
market.
Nick Devall, Executive Vice President, Civil Large Engines at Rolls-Royce,
said: "This is an important strategic order which gives the Trent a sound base
on which to expand its presence in the Russian market. We're looking forward to
working closely with Aeroflot as they develop their plans for the new fleet."
The Trent 700 is the quietest and cleanest option for the A330, with the
greatest margin to CAEP 4 legislation. It is the only engine specifically
designed for the aircraft, resulting in better performance, reliability and
maintenance costs. It is the market leader on the A330 with a 45 per cent share
of orders.
It was the first version of the Trent to enter service, in March 1995, and is
the most powerful engine for the A330, with a maximum in-service thrust of
72,000lb.
