Re Agreement

9 February 2005 ROLLS-ROYCE AND VIRGIN ATLANTIC SIGN 12-YEAR TRENT SERVICE DEAL Rolls-Royce announced today (9 February) that it had signed a further long-term services agreement with Virgin Atlantic Airways for Trent engines on the airline's fleet of long-range Airbus jets. The 12-year TotalCare contract covers maintenance of Trent 500 engines on an additional 15 of Virgin Atlantic's four-engined A340-600 aircraft. A separate service agreement for Trent engines on ten other aircraft in the A340 fleet has been in place since 2002. Charles Cuddington, Managing Director, Airlines Business at Rolls-Royce, said: "This builds on our existing relationship with Virgin Atlantic, the Trent 500's launch customer, by increasing the level of service we are giving the airline. "TotalCare contracts, which are customised for individual operators, are structured around payment of an agreed dollar rate per flying hour. Rolls-Royce has total responsibility for engine fleet maintenance, while the airline benefits from clear budget visibility." The 53,000-56,000lb thrust Trent 500 has accumulated over a million engine flying hours since entering service with Virgin Atlantic in the summer of 2002. It is the sole powerplant for the four-engined, ultra-long-range A340-500 and -600 airliners, which have attracted 168 firm and option orders from 14 customers Over 60 per cent of the worldwide Trent in-service fleet of more than 850 engines is covered by TotalCare agreements.
