Re Agreement

30 March, 2005 ROLLS-ROYCE AND CATHAY PACIFIC AGREE TRENT MAINTENANCE DEAL Rolls-Royce and Cathay Pacific Airways have signed additional long-term service contracts worth a total of US$770 million for two more versions of the Trent engine in the Cathay Pacific fleet. The support packages, managed by Rolls-Royce under the banner of TotalCare, cover the Trent 800 engines on 17 Boeing 777s, of which 15 aircraft have been delivered to date, and the Trent 500s which power Cathay Pacific's three ultra-long-range A340-600s. The agreements are in addition to existing TotalCare support for the Trent 700 engines in Cathay Pacific's current fleet of 23 A330 twinjets, plus six further aircraft still to be delivered. Mike Terrett, President, Civil Aerospace, at Rolls-Royce, said: "This extension of our partnership with Cathay Pacific demonstrates the value that TotalCare can bring to our customers. Our unique position as the equipment manufacturer means we can deliver a reliable and cost-effective service based on a joint understanding of the customer's operation and our engines." TotalCare agreements, tailored for individual customers, offer a range of services extending to aspects of support such as provision of lease engines, as well as repair and overhaul. Rolls-Royce takes full responsibility for care of the engine fleet in return for payment by the customer of an agreed dollar rate per flying hour. This month marks a landmark occasion shared by Rolls-Royce and Cathay Pacific - the tenth anniversary of entry into service by the first of the Trent engine series. It was in March 1995 that Trent 700s powered their first commercial flight, on the wings of a Cathay Pacific A330.
