17 December, 2003 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $360 MILLION SHARE OF IAE ENGINE ORDERS Rolls-Royce announced today (17 December) that it has won business worth $360 million as its share of a series of orders for V2500 engines. The orders come on the 20th anniversary of the multinational consortium International Aero Engines (IAE), manufacturer of the V2500 engine. The consortium comprises Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney of the United States, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines of Germany. The three firm orders have been placed by International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), South African Airways (SAA) and China's Sichuan Airlines and amount to more than 180 engines. They bring IAE's share of the Airbus A320 engine market in 2003 to 87 per cent. Mike Terrett, President - Civil Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, said: "Today's announcements pay testimony to the continued success of IAE - and it's a great way to mark 20 years of achievement. During the past two decades, IAE has won some £30 billion in engine orders with more than 2,000 engines delivered and another 2,500 on order."
