Notification of Transactions of Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibility

Spectris plc ("the Company") was today informed of the following transaction:

On 21st March 2007, Mr Roger Stephens, Company Secretary of the Company,
exercised 73,485 options (0.059% of issued class). The options were exercised
at a price of 860.3658p. Mr Stephens' total beneficial holding following this
transaction has increased to 40,000 shares (0.032% of issued class) with the
retention of 6,094 shares (0.005% of issued class) and the disposal of 67,391
shares (0.054% of issued class). There are 85,000 shares remaining under
option.
