SOFTWARE RADIO TECHNOLOGY PLC
AIS CLASS B US COAST GUARD APPROVAL
The Directors of Software Radio Technology plc ("SRT" or the "Company") are
pleased to announce that SRT has received US Coast Guard ("USCG") approval for
its AIS Class B transceiver.
At the end of 2006, SRT launched the world's first low cost, AIS standard
compliant AIS Class B transceiver designed for use by small commercial and
leisure boats. AIS enables accurate and reliable identification and tracking of
maritime traffic and is now an integral element of many countries' homeland
security strategies.
SRT is working with a growing customer base of over 20 companies around the
world to launch a range of AIS Class B products during 2007.
Simon Tucker, SRT's Managing Director said; "SRT has achieved a world first by
obtaining USCG approval for our Class B solution. The USCG is a supporter of
AIS and we believe this paves the way for the wider rollout of AIS. With over
12 million boats in the US alone, this is clearly a very exciting prospect for
us."
