3i Group plc announces that Mr J W Melbourn proposes to retire as a non-
executive Director and Deputy Chairman of the Board with effect from the
conclusion of the Annual General Meeting to be held on Wednesday 12 July 2000
after ten years' service.
3i Group plc also announces that with effect from that date Baroness Hogg has
been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board and The Lord Camoys will assume
the role of senior independent non-executive Director in succession to Mr
Melbourn.
Sarah Hogg is aged 54 and has been a non-executive Director since 1997. She
is also Chairman of Foreign & Colonial Smaller Companies PLC and Frontier
Economics Limited, a Director of GKN plc, Martin Currie Portfolio Investment
Trust plc and The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company and a
Governor of the BBC.
