The meeting of the Committee of the Board of 3i Group plc at which the results
for the year to 31 March 2001 are due to be approved, and the final dividend
recommended, has been convened for the afternoon of Wednesday 16 May 2001.  The
preliminary announcement of the results will be released by notification to the
London Stock Exchange before 8.00 am on THURSDAY 17 MAY 2001.


The expected financial calendar is as follows:

Post accounts to shareholders             Friday, 1 June 2001
Final dividend record date                Friday, 15 June 2001
Final dividend payment date               Friday, 13 July 2001
