3i Group plc announces that in accordance with the announcement made on 2
November 2004, Simon Ball's appointment as a Director of 3i Group plc became
effective today.

Simon Ball will formally assume responsibility as Finance Director in succession
to Michael Queen with effect from 1 April 2005, when Michael Queen assumes
responsibility for 3i's Growth Capital business.
