BlackRock Income Strategies Trust plc (formerly British Assets Trust plc)

Change of Name

As announced earlier today, shareholders have approved the change to the Company's investment objective and policy.  The Company's name has therefore been changed to BlackRock Income Strategies Trust plc with immediate effect and the Company's TIDM will be changed to BIST with effect from 27 February 2015.

Following the change in the Company's name existing share certificates will remain valid.

The Company's new website will be available at www.blackrock.com/uk/bist from 2 March 2015.

The Board

The Board is pleased to announce that Mr James Long has succeeded Ms Lynn Ruddick as Chairman of the Company with immediate effect. Ms Ruddick remains as a Director of the Company. The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Ruddick for her exceptional leadership during this time of great change.

Mr Ian Russell will succeed Mr Long as Chairman of the Company's Audit Committee.
