Dear Sirs
DEUTSCHE EQUITY INCOME TRUST PLC
The Board is aware of the speculation surrounding the future ownership of its
investment manager. The Board remains satisfied with its investment manager and
its team. However, it believes that in the current uncertainty it would be
prudent and in the best interests of shareholders to serve protective notice to
terminate the management agreement with DWS Investment Trust Managers so that it
would expire one year from today. The Board believes that this will allow it
flexibility in deciding the future of the Company's management contract in the
event of a change in ownership of its manager. The Board will continue to
consult with its advisers on this matter.
By order of the Board
M Pope
Secretary
