Aberdeen Smaller Companies High Income Trust PLC

(formerly Shires Smaller Companies PLC)

The Board advises that Shires Smaller Companies PLC has today changed its name to Aberdeen Smaller Companies High Income Trust PLC.

The Board also confirms that as advised in the Report and Accounts, Mr Henry Cathcart has retired as a Director and as Chairman. He leaves with the Board's good wishes and thanks for his service as chairman since 2004 and as a director for the last 15 years.

Carolan Dobson was appointed Chairman with effect from the conclusion of today's Annual General Meeting.

Mr Barry Rose has been appointed to the Audit Committee, the Management Engagement Committee and the Nominations Committee with effect from today's date.

The London Stock Exchange mnemonic (TIDM) will change from SHD to ASCH with effect from 14 April 2011.
