RESULT OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust plc (formerly Edinburgh Small Companies
Trust plc) ('the Company') hereby gives notification that, at the Extraordinary
General Meeting of the Company held at 12.30pm today, 21 August 2007, at 1
George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2LL, Special Resolutions 1, 2 and 4, and Ordinary
Resolution 3, as set out in full in the Notice of Meeting contained in the
Circular which was sent to shareholders on 17 July 2007, were duly approved by
shareholders.

The total number of proxy votes lodged was as follows:

CHANGE OF NAME

The Company announces that the Resolution to change its name to Standard Life UK
Smaller Companies Trust plc, passed at the Extraordinary General Meeting of the
Company held on 21 August 2007, has today been registered with Companies House
and is therefore effective from today's date.

NEW CREDIT FACILITY

The Company refers to the announcement made by it on 17 July 2007 and the
circular to shareholders published by it on that day and announces that it has
today entered into a new £10,000,000 3 year revolving credit facility with
Lloyds TSB Bank plc.  It is expected that the first draw down under the new
credit facility will be made on 23 August 2007 to finance part of the redemption
of the whole of the Company's 73/4 per cent. debenture stock 2023 on that date.
Further details on the amount drawn down at that time are expected to be
announced on 23 August 2007.
