STANDARD LIFE UK SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC

("the Company")

TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 17 August 2018 it purchased 26,890 of its own 25p Ordinary Shares at a price of 499.11 pence per share.  These shares will be held in treasury.

Following the transaction, the Company's issued ordinary share capital is 73,627,056 Ordinary Shares of 25p each (excluding treasury shares).  The number of Ordinary Shares of 25p held in treasury is 2,658,524.

The total number of voting rights in the Company is 73,627,056 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company, under the Disclosure, Guidance and Transparency Rules.
