Business Update
Partnership agreement and update on product development
Amino Technologies plc (LSE: AMO), the Cambridge-based leader in digital entertainment solutions for IPTV, Internet TV and in-home multimedia distribution, is pleased to announce the following business update, partnership agreement and update on product development relating to both the Company's IPTV platforms and home monitoring and control offering in the second half of the current financial year.
Existing geographical markets
Amino continues to make good progress in its core markets and in the development of its set-top box portfolio. The Company recently launched its new A150 mainstream set-top box into the European market and the device is already gaining traction and has been successfully integrated into existing partners' middleware offerings. In line with the industry trend towards 4K Ultra-HD TV delivery and HEVC video compression, the Company unveiled at the major IBC trade show its new 4K HEVC STB platform featuring Amino's field-proven, widely-deployed Aminet software alongside a preview of the new-look product family.
Launched recently in Europe, the A150 is now capable of supporting Nordija fokusOn, a widget-based IPTV and multiscreen middleware and service delivery platform, and the product is already commercially available. In addition to this, the Company has successfully integrated the A150 with new partners focussed on the OTT market. The Company is now partnering with Vision 247, a media technology and content distribution company focused on providing end to end solutions to television channels, content owners, mobile and fixed operators and ISPs. Under the partnership, Amino and Vision 247 will deliver OTT multiscreen TV under a complete cloud-based platform which has been designed to deliver a consistent user experience across multiple devices.
New and emerging markets
The Company has experienced further traction in Eastern Europe for its lower specification device which has, as previously reported, also achieved success in Latin America. As outlined in the Company's interim results in July 2014, the Company has been selected by ALBtelecom in Albania to provide its set-top boxes to support the rollout of the new ALBtv IPTV service in that region. ALBtelecom will deploy Amino's HD devices as part of a tripleplay package including TV services, broadband and telephony. Initially, the service will be available in the cities of Korce and Pogradec with plans to roll out across the whole country via ALBtelecom's fibre and DSL network.
Home monitoring and control
Amino has received further industry endorsement for its home monitoring and control offering and the Board remains confident that this will open up new opportunities for the Company in new and adjacent markets. On 13 September 2014 at IBC the Company won the 'CSI Award for Best IPTV Technology or Service', its second major award to the year, for its home monitoring and control solution. This award is further evidence of industry interest in home monitoring and control.
Commenting on the announcement, Donald McGarva, Chief Executive Officer, added:
"We are making solid progress in our core markets and are successfully taking our products and expertise into emerging markets. Our focus on product innovation and the fact that our products are continuing to gain recognition from the wider market gives the Board confidence in our ability to keep delivering in the future."
