AmiNET130 licensed to Amino's first In-Flight Entertainment Customer
Amino Technologies plc (LSE: AMO.L) the world leading IPTV platform supplier, today announced that Lumexis, a provider of Fiber-To-The-Seat™ airline entertainment systems, has licensed Amino's AmiNET130M technology to deliver 100% digital HD IPTV to airline passengers. Lumexis will use Amino's hardware and software technology to replace the current entertainment system used by its customer: one of the world's leading global airlines.
The AmiNET130M is the industry's smallest all-digital, HD H.264 Set-Top Box (STB) and contains hardware and software technology that offers customers the ability to deliver end-to-end digital HD TV, Video-On-Demand (VOD) and many other services. As part of this license deal, the AmiNET130 will be twinned with Lumexis' Fiber-To-The-Seat™ entertainment system via one single, standard server on each plane: a solution that weighs 50% less than traditional in-flight entertainment systems.
This AmiNET130-powered solution will provide the airline customer with additional opportunities to maximise its in-flight revenue through new services including VOD online shopping, gaming, and on-demand food and beverage orders.
Confirming Lumexis' selection of Amino's AmiNET130M technology, Rich Salter, CTO for Lumexis, commented:
'We wanted to offer our customer a light-weight, cutting edge alternative to its current in-flight entertainment system. The AmiNET130M technology that enables a breadth of functionalities and high-quality HD performance made it the obvious choice. In addition, Amino's established reputation and industry expertise provides us with peace of mind as we move forward with this groundbreaking new offering.'
Welcoming the news Andrew Burke, Amino Chief Executive Officer said:
'This licence agreement is good news for Amino and fits well with our stated intention to extend our product offering right across the entertainment spectrum. It talks to the adaptability of our technology and proves its relevance far beyond the way we traditionally think of TV. Whether through our Set Top Boxes like the AmiNET130, or through our AssetHouse merchandising software, our technology is geared-up to help those companies who offer IPTV services craft them better, target them more effectively and, ultimately, derive more value from their offerings.'
