Sirdar PLC 12 March 2004 12th March 2004 Sirdar PLC ('Sirdar') Appointment of new non-executive chairman The board of Sirdar announces the appointment of its new non-executive chairman, R B (Tim) Vernon, 59, who will assume the role from 1st May 2004, succeeding Gerry Lumb who retires on 30th April 2004. As a prelude to this Tim has been appointed a non-executive director with immediate effect. Tim has extensive experience in sales, marketing, procurement and operations gained through a long career with the Reckitt & Colman group of companies which he joined after five years in the advertising industry. Between 1993 and 2000 he held the positions of managing director of Reckitt's Colours International; head of Global Transformation - Reckitt & Colman PLC and managing director of Reckitt & Colman Northern Europe Household & Toiletries. Commenting on the changes, Duncan Verity, Sirdar group chief executive, said: ' We wish Gerry Lumb all the best for his retirement, after almost 43 years with the group, and are very pleased to welcome Tim Vernon to Sirdar. Tim brings to Sirdar a considerable knowledge of consumer-driven operations and extensive experience in strategic planning and management. I am sure that these skills will be of great assistance to the group's executive team.'
