 Offer for subscription of up to 1.4 million new ordinary shares of 50 pence
                                     each

   of Close Technology & General VCT PLC ('Close Technology & General VCT')



The board is pleased to announce that an allotment of 46,300 shares in respect
of the Offer has taken place today. In addition to the 5,000 shares previously
allotted, further applications have been received for a further 75,000 Shares
under the Offer, taking the aggregate of applications and allotments up to
126,300 Shares.

Dealings in the 46,300 Shares, which will rank pari passu with the existing
issued share capital, will commence on 8 October 2001.

The Offer will remain open until 10.00 a.m. on 2 November 2001.
