Appointment of Head of Equity Investment
The Alliance Trust PLC will be releasing the following press release this

GRANT LINDSAY APPOINTED HEAD OF EQUITIES
The Alliance Trusts have announced today (Wednesday) the appointment of Grant
Lindsay as Head of Equities.
Lindsay, 54, is Senior Investment Manager at the Trusts, with special
responsibility for Global Sector coverage including the oil and gas sector,
mining and investment companies and for Japan, the Far East and emerging
markets.
He has been with the Trusts since 1971 and during his investment career has
covered all the geographical regions invested in by the companies.
Lindsay has spearheaded the Trusts' investment in China that has seen the
companies' exposure to Greater China increase to 5.2% of its investment
portfolio. Lindsay is also responsible for monitoring the companies' oil and gas
royalties business in Texas and Oklahoma and contributes to the companies'
investor relations efforts.
Alan Harden, Chief Executive of the Trusts, said, "Grant has an acute
understanding of the markets that comes of years of hands-on experience in all
the regions and sectors where we invest. I'm delighted that he has accepted the
responsibility of directing our equity investments."
The Trusts are two self-managed investment trusts, The Alliance Trust PLC and
The Second Alliance Trust PLC, which are both ranked in the top 20 UK investment
trusts by assets. Between them, the Trusts manage approximately £2bn of assets.
The Trusts also announced that Colin Beveridge, Chief Investment Manager, is to
leave the companies to pursue other career options. Commenting on this, Alan
Harden added "We are disappointed that Colin is leaving. He has been
instrumental in the recent developments of both the Investment Department and
our Investment priorities. We wish him well for the future."
