Amur Minerals Corporation
("Amur" or "the Company")
Board Appointment
Amur Minerals Corporation (AIM: AMC) is pleased to announce that the Company has appointed Mr. Thomas Bowens to the Board as a Non-Executive Director, with immediate effect.
Mr. Bowens has over 25 years of international experience in the minerals exploration sector and is the President and CEO of IG Copper, a company he founded in 2009. IG Copper held the exploration and mining licences for the Malmyzh copper-gold porphyry project ("Malmyzh"), a strategic deposit located in Khabarovsk Krai in the Russian Far East. Malmyzh is one of the largest copper-gold projects in the world with total copper and gold reserves (C1 + C2, Russian ore classification system) of 1.39 billion tonnes of ore containing 5.6 million tonnes of copper at a grade of 0.40% and 9.4 million ounces of gold at a grade of 0.21 grams per tonne. Mr. Bowens successfully explored and negotiated the sale of Malmyzh to Russian Copper Company for $200 million in October 2018.
Prior to founding IG Copper, Mr. Bowens worked for companies including Cyprus Amax Exploration, Harrods Minerals, Ivanhoe Mines, and two Lundin Group Companies, International Uranium and Fortress Minerals Corporation. He has substantial experience working in Mongolia and Russia and has been directly responsible for two major mineral deposit discoveries in the Russian Far East in the past 12 years, Svetloye and Malmyzh.
Thomas has degrees in Economics, Geological Engineering (Magna Cum Laude) and a Master's degree in Geology, the latter two from the Colorado School of Mines.
Mr. Bowens brings a vast amount of experience of operating in the Russian Far East and a track record of successful deal making in the Russian Federation to the Board of Amur.
Robin Young, CEO of Amur Minerals Corporation, commented:
"It is with great pleasure that, on behalf of myself and the rest of the Board, I welcome Tom to Amur.
"Tom's experience of working in the mining sector, especially in Russia, and the Russian Far East in particular, brings invaluable knowledge and expertise to the Amur Board. Additionally, his reputation within the region, and the relationships he has developed whilst working there, will greatly compliment those of Amur's existing team.
"As President and CEO of IG Copper Tom's successful development and sale of the Malmyzh copper gold project for $200 million, highlights his accomplishments within Russia. His knowledge of completing M&A activities of this scale and in this region will contribute to the Company as it continues to engage with potential strategic partners to assist in advancing the Kun-Manie nickel copper project.
"I look forward to having a positive and fruitful working relationship with Tom as Amur progresses towards the next stage of its development."
