                        APPOINTMENT OF FINANCE DIRECTOR


Arbuthnot Banking Group PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul
Sheriff as Group Finance Director. Paul Sheriff will join the Board and assume
the responsibilities of Finance Director on 1 October, 2006.

Paul Nigel Sheriff (age 36) is currently Commercial Finance Director of the
Prudential's UK and European business and has been a Director of the companies
listed in the attached schedule.

Save as disclosed there is no other information that is required to be disclosed
under Schedule 2, paragraph (f) of the AIM rules.
