Transaction in own shares

The Company has today made a market purchase of 50,000 of its own ordinary
shares of 1p, representing 0.15% of the issued share capital.  The shares were 
bought at 216.50p per share and the Company intends to hold these shares in 
treasury. These shares will only be re-issued at prices which are in excess of 
the diluted net asset value of the Company's shares immediately before such 
re-issue.

Following this purchase, there are 33,133,488 ordinary shares in issue and
225,000 ordinary shares held in treasury.
