ASSOCIATED BRITISH FOODS PLC
APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Associated British Foods plc has today appointed Mike Alexander, Executive
Director and Chief Operating Officer of Centrica plc to its Board as a

Non-Executive Director.


Mr Alexander spent his earlier career with BP where he held a number of
management positions.  He joined British Gas plc in 1991 where he held
Directorships in CIS, Eastern Europe, Public Gas Supply and latterly as
Managing Director, British Gas Trading Ltd.


The Board looks forward to the valuable contribution Mr Alexander will make to
the Company.
