AMLIN PLC REORGANISES IN PREPARATION FOR GROWTH
Amlin plc (Amlin), the insurance group, today released details of a major
streamlining of its underwriting operations as part of its strategy to be
recognised as one of the leading insurance businesses in the London market.
Amlin is reorganising to optimise its use of reinsurance and underwriting
resource by operating through four divisions organised by class of business.
The divisions will use the existing Amlin business brands, as follows:
Harvey Bowring - Catastrophe excess of loss reinsurance (combining the Harvey
Bowring and Coles reinsurance businesses), international commercial property
and liability insurance and reinsurance, and accident and health.
Coles - London market marine insurance, incorporating the Walker and Coles
marine businesses.
Amlin Aviation - All classes of international aviation business
Amlin Insurance Services - UK motor, property and liability insurance.
Commenting on this development,
Charles Philipps, Amlin Chief Executive, said:
'This reorganisation gives Amlin an enhanced and strategically focussed
presence in our markets, and brings with it substantial business advantages
and ongoing cost savings. Under our new structure, the material position each
of our businesses undoubtedly holds in the market will be more evident and we
will be able to provide a more effective and efficient service to brokers and
insureds.'
'Consolidating individual divisional reinsurance programmes into modular
units, designed to protect our entire risk portfolio by class of business,
will produce a more efficient structure, relative cost savings and an enhanced
ability to accept business.'
'Our aim is to put Amlin in the best possible competitive position as
worldwide insurance markets continue to benefit from rate improvements'.
