                         UNDERWRITING CHANGES AT AMLIN

Amlin plc, the insurance group, announces that Tony Holt has assumed the role
of divisional underwriter for Amlin's non-marine business, Harvey Bowring, in
addition to his role as Underwriting Director.

John Mumford today resigned as a director of Amlin plc and is leaving the
company with immediate effect. Mr Mumford joined Amlin in 1997 when he sold
his managing agency to the company. His departure, which has been mutually
agreed, follows the Board's decision, announced earlier today, to streamline
its operations on a business class basis.
