Appointment of Non-Executive Directors

British Empire Securities and General Trust plc ("the Company") is delighted to announce that

Nigel Rich CBE and Susan Noble have been appointed as Non-Executive Directors of the Company.

Nigel Rich is Chairman of Segro plc and is also a Non-Executive Director of Bank of the Philippine Islands (Europe) plc, Matheson & Co Ltd and Pacific Assets Trust PLC. He was previously Chairman of Xchanging plc, Ocean Group / Exel plc, CP Ships Limited and Hamptons Group Limited. In his executive career, he was Managing Director of Hongkong Land and of Jardine Matheson and was Group Chief Executive of Trafalgar House PLC London.

Susan Noble was previously a Managing Director of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and held the roles of Head of European Equities and Head of Global Equities. She was also a Director and Senior European Portfolio Manager in Robert Fleming Asset Management. Susan is currently a member of the Finance Committees of the Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted and Mencap (National).

The Company confirms that there are no matters which are required to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13.
