                    Appointment of Non-Executive Director

Avingtrans PLC announces the immediate appointment of Mr. Ken Baker, OBE as a
Non-Executive Director. Mr. Baker (aged 66) is presently Chairman of Ferraris
plc, the listed medical products company. He is also Non-Executive Director of
the East German Investment Trust plc and President of AMTRI (the Advanced
Manufacturing Technology Research Institute).

In relation to Mr. Baker, no information is disclosable under 16.4(a) of the
Listing Rules of the London Stock Exchange ('the Listing Rules'), nor is any
information disclosable under 6.F.2(b)-(g) of the Listing Rules.
