The Baillie Gifford Japan Trust PLC

Owing to demand in the market, the Company announces the allotment of 278,175 new Ordinary Shares of 5p each fully paid on 3 November 2015.  Following the allotment there are 76,429,925 Ordinary Shares in issue.  These shares were issued for cash on 3 November 2015 at a price of 453.25p per share and at a premium to the prevailing net asset value.

The Company has no further shares available for issuance on a non-pre-emptive basis under the authority granted by shareholders at the Company's 2014 AGM.  As in previous years, the Company will be seeking authority from shareholders to issue up to 10% of its issued share capital on a non-pre-emptive basis at its AGM on 30 November 2015.
