BALFOUR BEATTY ANNOUNCES £56 MILLION QATAR CONTRACT WIN

Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, announces that its professional services division, Parsons Brinckerhoff, has been awarded a £56 million ($87 million) contract by the Public Works Authority of Qatar (Ashghal) for pre tender and post tender professional consulting services for the Qatar Expressway programme.

The contract, which will form part of the major highways infrastructure in the state of Qatar, encompasses the detailed design of approximately 26 kilometres (16 miles) of divided highway with grade separated interchanges and bridges. The detailed design will be undertaken by personnel in several offices worldwide. Following detailed design, the firm will provide professional services associated with the tender stage, followed by contract administration and construction supervision on behalf of Ashghal. The estimated construction cost for the project is over US$1 billion.
