APPOINTMENT OF GRAHAM ROBERTS AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction, services and investment business, announces today the appointment of Graham Roberts as a Non-Executive Director, effective from 1 January 2009.

Mr Roberts is Finance Director of The British Land Company PLC, one of the UK's largest quoted property companies.  Prior to joining British Land in 2002, he spent eight years at Andersen, latterly as a partner specialising in the real estate and government services sectors.

Commenting today, Steve Marshall, Balfour Beatty Chairman, said:

'We are delighted to welcome Graham Roberts to the Balfour Beatty Board.  Graham brings top-flight financial and commercial experience to the Board, and this will be of great value to us over the coming years.'
