GAMMON AWARDED CONTRACT FOR
REDEVELOPMENT OF HENNESSY CENTRE IN HONG KONG
Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction, services and investment Group, announces today that Gammon Construction, its joint venture company in South East Asia, has been awarded a contract in excess of HK$1.5 billion (£120 million) by Hysan Development Company Limited (Hysan) for the redevelopment of the Hennessy Centre in the Causeway Bay district of Hong Kong.
Commenting on the contract award today, Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Ian Tyler said;
'We are delighted to have been selected by Hysan and to be involved with this landmark project. Gammon's advanced technological standards and expertise in building construction are key factors in the contract award.'
Construction of the project, a 36-storey mixed retail and office development featuring a four-level car park and retail basement located in one of the most vibrant commercial and entertainment districts of Hong Kong, will be completed in 2011.
The Hennessy Centre redevelopment is the first Hong Kong building project that has achieved pre-certification of the highest Platinum level under the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and will set an example as an environmentally-friendly building in the community.
