ANNOUNCEMENT OF ACQUISITION OF BCP SHARES BY INTESABCI HOLDING INTERNACIONAL AND
PARTIAL SALE BY INTESABCI S.p.A.
In accordance with article 17 of Portuguese Securities Code, Banco Comercial
Portugues (BCP, NYSE:BPC, BCPPRA) based on information received by it, informs
that:
a) The company INTESABCI HOLDING INTERNATIONAL S.A., registered in Luxembourg,
acquired on December 20, 2001, on the Lisbon Stock Exchange 58.671.600 shares of
Banco Comercial Portugues, S.A. which correspond to 2,52% of the share capital
and voting rights.
b) The company INTESABCI S.p.A., registered in Italy, sold to the company
INTESABCI HOLDING INTERNATIONAL S.A., registered on Luxembourg, on December 20,
2001 on the Lisbon Stock Exchange 35.000.000 shares of Banco Portuguese , S.A.
having thus reduced its stake to 4,91% of the share capital and voting rights.
