BRANCOTE HOLDINGS PLC ('the Company')

CORRECTION

The announcement made this morning that Matopos Holdings Limited had purchased
965,000 shares in Brancote Holdings Plc, was incorrect. This purchase was in
respect of shares in HPD Exploration Plc, a company recently demerged from
Brancote Holdings Plc.



In accordance with Rule 16.19 of the AIM Admission Rules, and as required by
Section 198 to 208 of the Companies Act 1985, the following information falls
to be disclosed:

No. of shares purchased:                965,000

No. of shares held:                     6,531,666

Percent held:                           10.4%

Date of transaction:                    30 January 2001

The company was informed of the above transaction on 31 January 2001



*These shares were purchased by First Equity Limited and will be held by Bank
of New York Europe Limited, Sub A/c RBSI Custody Bank Ltd.
