Bango signs agreements with Vodafone Espana and Orange Espana
Spanish market unifies to open up mobile internet
January 8, 2007 - Bango, the mobile internet platform provider, announces today
that it has signed agreements with Vodafone Espana and Orange Espana to allow
their Spanish mobile phone users full, open access to the mobile internet using
Bango's enabling technology. Following these agreements, and the existing one
with Telefonica Moviles Espana, Spanish phone users can now browse the mobile
internet, reach third party WAP sites and pay for premium content directly on
their phone bill.
This agreement means that the Spanish mobile market has now joined the growing
number of countries providing users with full, open access to the mobile
internet. Content providers who use the Bango mobile internet platform, such as
Manchester United and MTV together with many smaller niche content providers can
now market and sell content and services to 45 million phone users throughout
Spain.
Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango commented, 'The vision of providing a user friendly,
safe mobile payment experience in Spain is finally realized by this partnership
between Bango and the three operators. Spain, along with the UK, Germany and the
US, is one of our key target markets, and we are therefore delighted to have
secured these agreements with the operators in support of our strategy.'
'At last content providers can reach the whole mobile market in Spain, made easy
by the Bango platform,' said Ghatim Kabbara, CEO of Safira Solutions, a leading
Spanish provider of internet based management solutions. 'By making browsing and
payment simple, this is an opportunity that anyone with content for the Spanish
market should seize.'
Bango enables brands and content providers to engage directly with consumers on
the mobile internet. Content providers use the Bango platform to market to their
customers, to track and manage user activity across all mobile networks and to
sell digital content, such as music, games, videos and pictures. These
agreements mean that brands that have depended on a single channel to market in
Spain through an operator portal can now also integrate mobile internet
marketing into their direct to consumer marketing programs.
Using Bango, content providers of all sizes can get their mobile content to
market quickly and cost effectively, reaching consumers on all networks. Content
providers sign up for the Bango Service by registering on-line at www.bango.com.
They decide how to price and promote their mobile services and with no
integration work required, they can enable their first mobile payments in Spain
and world-wide within hours.
