Update on Mobile App Stores
Bango (AIM: BGO), the mobile payments and analytics company, is pleased to provide the following update on the progress it is making with the Opera Mobile Store, and BlackBerry App World.
Opera Mobile Store
Following the announcement in late-June that Bango had been selected by Opera Software to power mobile payments for the Opera Mobile Store, the Company is pleased to announce that this service has gone live. Bango is now successfully processing charge-to-mobile bill payments in the UK, with further roll-out planned.
The Opera Mobile Store delivers more than 1 million app downloads a day through an easy to run, browser-based store. Opera browsers run on more than 100 million devices worldwide; and can be accessed on over 3000 different mobile phone models, including most major mobile operating systems as it is also accessible through any other mobile browser by going to mobilestore.opera.com.
Every user will discover apps and content targeting their specific mobile device, local market and currency. The store is one of the top ten app store services for mobile phone users available worldwide today. Bango's payment technology will automatically calculate and deliver the correct payment experience for each individual user of the Opera Mobile Store, giving customers a great experience wherever they are and maximizing revenues for developers.
Mahi de Silva, EVP, Head of Consumer Mobile, Opera Software, said: "Our app store is hugely popular across the world with millions of customers accessing content everyday. Delivering the best payment experience to our customers is essential and Bango provides the most sophisticated mobile payment technology available."
Blackberry App Store
In addition, Bango provides mobile operator payment capabilities for the BlackBerry App World store worldwide. In June the Company confirmed that it had launched additional operators such as Vodafone UK and T-Mobile USA for the BlackBerry store, to extend its reach in North America and into Europe.
Today Bango is pleased to confirm that it is now processing transactions in six new markets for RIM's BlackBerry App World store, these are: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands and Austria.
Ray Anderson, CEO, commented: "We are delighted that the Opera Mobile Store has gone live and that Bango is now facilitating the payments across our sophisticated technology platform. As Opera is a browser-based app store it can be accessed on a range of devices - this means that localization, adaptation to device/screen, and multiple payment methods in real-time, across various currencies, need to be processed. Our payment technology is uniquely capable of delivering this service and the optimal payment experience for each user, maximizing revenues for developers. We continue to seek to develop other app store opportunities and believe this area to present a significant opportunity for growth."
Bango powers global app stores with payment capabilities designed around the mobile device experience. Over ten years, the Bango service has evolved into a market-hardened platform trusted by some of the world's largest content publishers and app stores. In addition to providing sophisticated billing capabilities the Bango platform delivers real-time analytics, full reporting and settlement services and customer support.
