Appointment of New Non-Executive Director

The Bankers Investment Trust PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Peter Sullivan as a non‑executive director to the Board with effect from the Board Meeting immediately prior to the AGM on 22 February 2011, when he will be seeking appointment by shareholders. 

Mr Richard Brewster, Chairman of The Bankers Investment Trust PLC said; "Peter Sullivan, brings valuable commercial experience to the Board from both his business career and his extensive time working in the Far East. He was formerly Executive Director & CEO (Hong Kong) at Standard Chartered Plc.  He is currently a non-executive director of Axa Asia Pacific Holdings plc, (an Australian listed company), Techtronic Industries, JPMorgan Indian Investment Trust plc and Chairman of Cenkos Securities plc."

With reference to the UK Corporate Governance Code it is noted that both Peter Sullivan and Richard Burns are directors of JP Morgan Indian Investment Trust plc. This is not considered a significant link by the Board and does not detract from the independence of either director.  

In accordance with paragraphs 9.6.13 (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules, it is confirmed that there are no additional details to be disclosed in relation to Mr Sullivan.
