THE BANKERS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC PAYS FIRST INTERIM DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDING
                                31 OCTOBER 2003


The Bankers Investment Trust PLC has declared a first interim dividend of 1.74p
per ordinary share net (2002: 1.68p) in respect of the year ending 31 October
2003 payable on 30 May 2003 to shareholders registered on 9 May 2003. The
Company's shares go ex-dividend on 7 May 2003.
